The project 01

Love the area.
Renew the home.

The family wanted a more modern and functional home, but they did not want to leave the Hillcrest area they loved.

The existing home had become dated and cramped, with too few bathrooms for comfortable family life. Moving to a newer property was considered.

After meeting James Goren, the family chose to improve their existing property through one coordinated renovation covering the kitchen, bathrooms, master suite and laundry.

The transformation

From dated and busy.
To bright, open and welcoming.

As part of the Hillcrest full home renovation, the kitchen was reworked around a central island, generous storage and a lighter palette, bringing a fresh sense of space to everyday family life.

Kitchen / Hillcrest Full Home Renovation
01 / Before

A busy layout with dated finishes

Blue and white cabinetry, dark tiled benchtops and two projecting benches made the original kitchen feel visually busy. A narrow central passage defined the layout beside the adjoining living area.

02 / After

A brighter kitchen built around an island

White cabinetry, pale benchtops and warm timber flooring give the kitchen a lighter, more cohesive feel. A central island and full-height storage create a clear focal point, while the exposed timber framing retains a connection to the character of the home.

Project challenge / Layout transformation

The place they loved.
A home that works better.

The family wanted more space, greater bathroom capacity and a more functional home, while staying in Hillcrest. Reworking the existing property brought those priorities together in one coordinated renovation.

01 / Project challenge

A familiar home that no longer met family needs

The home felt dated and cramped, with a kitchen layout and bathroom provision that no longer supported everyday family life. Moving was considered, but it would have meant leaving the Hillcrest area the family loved.

02 / Layout transformation

Reworking the home around everyday living

TRT reorganised the kitchen and created a more open entertaining layout, alongside a master ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, a second family bathroom and an upgraded laundry with a toilet and vanity. The renovation brought greater comfort and practicality to the existing home.
