How We Design a Smarter Bathroom Layout
Designing a bathroom is about making a compact, high-moisture space feel clean, calm, and easy to use every day. Before construction begins, The Renovation Team works through the layout, fixture placement, storage, lighting, ventilation, wet-area zones, and finish selections so the final bathroom feels cohesive, practical, and suited to your home.
As part of the design process, we prepare 2D bathroom layouts and 3D design renders to show how the space will come together before the build begins. These visuals help you review the shower, vanity, toilet, bath, tiles, lighting, mirror, storage, and overall finish with more confidence, while allowing the design, scope, fixed price, and fixed duration to be confirmed before renovation work starts.
We start by measuring your existing bathroom or ensuite and reviewing the current layout, wall positions, doorways, windows, plumbing, drainage, electrical points and ventilation. We also discuss how you use the space, what feels uncomfortable, and what matters most to you, such as more storage, a larger shower, better lighting, a bath, a double vanity or a more open layout.
We prepare a practical bathroom layout that considers the best position for the vanity, toilet, shower and bath. Where possible, we place the vanity as a feature piece, keep the toilet more discreet, and position the shower in a corner or at the end of the room to improve flow. We also check spacing between fixtures so the bathroom does not feel crowded.
Where suitable, we prepare a 3D bathroom design so you can visualise how the finished space will look and feel before construction begins. This helps you understand the relationship between the shower, vanity, toilet, bath, tiles, lighting, mirrors, storage and overall layout before final decisions are made.
You review the design with us and we refine the details based on your feedback. We also guide you through fixture and finish selections, including tiles, tapware, vanity, toilet, shower glass, bath, LED mirrors, heated towel rails, ventilation, lighting and hardware. This is where the bathroom starts to reflect your personal style and daily routine.
Once the layout, design and selections are confirmed, we prepare a detailed scope of work with a clear fixed price and project duration. From there, our team manages the renovation, including builders, plumbers, electricians, waterproofers, tilers, painters and finishing trades, through to completion and handover.
