Our Kitchen Design Process
Before construction begins, The Renovation Team helps you plan your kitchen properly with clear 2D layouts, floor plan examples and 3D design renders.
A successful kitchen design is not only about choosing nice cabinets and benchtops. It is about understanding how you use the kitchen every day, what is not working in the current space, and how the new layout can improve storage, workflow, lighting, appliance placement and overall comfort.
Our design process helps you visualise the kitchen before the renovation begins, make informed decisions, and confirm the layout, finishes and scope of work before the final price and project duration are agreed.
We start by measuring your existing kitchen and reviewing the current layout, wall positions, windows, doors, plumbing, electrical points and available space. We also discuss how you use the kitchen, what you want to improve, and what matters most to you, such as more storage, better bench space, improved flow, a larger island, or a more open-plan layout.
We prepare a 2D layout or floor plan showing the proposed cabinetry, appliance locations, benchtop areas, storage zones and main work areas. This helps you understand how the kitchen will function in real life and allows us to check important details such as fridge position, oven location, sink placement, walkway space, island size and the connection to dining or living areas.
Where suitable, we prepare a 3D kitchen render so you can visualise the finished space before committing to the final design. This helps you see the relationship between cabinets, benchtops, splashback, flooring, colours, lighting and overall style, making it easier to choose finishes with confidence.
You review the design and we discuss what works well, what needs adjustment, and whether the layout meets your practical and lifestyle needs. This is the stage where we refine the details, improve storage, check appliance access, adjust cabinet design, review finishes and make sure the kitchen feels right before pricing is finalised.
Once the design, scope and selections are confirmed, we prepare a clear fixed-price proposal and project duration before starting the renovation. This gives you a clear understanding of what is included, how the work will be managed, and what to expect during the build from demolition through to installation, finishing and handover.
