A dated kitchen with heavy finishes
The original kitchen combined blue and timber cabinetry, dark flooring and older finishes, giving the space a dated and visually busy feel despite the generous natural light from the wide window.
Full Home Renovation · Glenfield, North Shore
A dated, disconnected layout reconfigured into a bright and spacious family home with open-plan living and a contemporary new bathroom.
The project 01
This Glenfield property renovation transformed a dated and disconnected layout into a spacious, modern family home.
The original kitchen was closed off, with a tight dining area and small living room that did not reflect the true size of the house.
By incorporating an underused bedroom, TRT created a much larger living space, connected the kitchen, dining and living areas, and renewed the family bathroom.
The transformation
The opportunity was not to make the existing small rooms look newer. It was to reconsider how the available space could support daily family life.

Project challenge / Layout transformation
The original layout did not reflect the true size of the house. Reconsidering how its existing rooms worked together created a much larger, more connected space for everyday family life.
The kitchen was closed off, the dining area was tight and the living room was small. An underused bedroom occupied space that could serve the family better. Together, these separate rooms limited how the home worked despite the size of the property.
By incorporating the underused bedroom into the main living area, TRT created a significantly larger family living environment with a modern open-plan kitchen. The reconfigured layout connected the kitchen, dining and living areas as one cohesive space.
A bright, spacious and functional home that makes better use of its existing space.
